Cookies: What They Are and How We Use Them

What cookies are, the different types, how this website uses them, and how to change your choice at any time.

On this page

Quick answer: Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. On this website, only essential storage is used unless you choose "Accept all". Google Analytics and Google Ads load only after you accept, and you can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Types of cookies

TypeWhat it doesNeeds consent?
EssentialMakes the site work, such as remembering your cookie choiceNo
SecurityProtects forms from spam bots, such as Cloudflare Turnstile on our order formNo, needed for security
AnalyticsMeasures how the site is used, such as Google AnalyticsYes, on this site
AdvertisingMeasures ad campaigns, such as Google AdsYes, on this site

How this website uses them

  • By default: we store only your cookie choice in your browser. No Google tags are loaded.
  • If you choose "Accept all": Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads load to measure visits and advertising. Google Consent Mode is set to "granted" for those purposes.
  • If you choose "Essential only": nothing more is loaded, on any page.
  • Changing your mind: use "Cookie settings" in the footer. If you switch back to essential only, we stop the Google tags and remove their cookies from your browser.

Order and payment pages

The order form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam, which processes technical information about your browser. Payments happen on Paystack's checkout, which uses its own cookies under its own policies.

South African law

POPIA doesn't mention cookies by name, but analytics and advertising cookies can involve personal information, such as online identifiers. Asking first, as we do, is the transparent approach.
