How to Choose a Website Development Company

Six checks before you pay anyone to build your website.

Quick answer: Get a written price, make sure the domain is registered in your name, look at live sites they built, and ask what happens after launch.

1. A written price

A verbal figure is not a quote. Ask for the scope, the price and the timeline in writing before any work starts.

2. You own the domain

If a developer registers your domain in their own name, they control your website and email. Ask: "Will the domain be in my name?"

3. Live, named work

Open their past sites on your phone. Are they fast? Is it obvious what the business does and how to contact them?

4. Google basics included

Page titles, descriptions, a sitemap and Google Search Console should be part of the build. Be wary of anyone who promises "page one".

5. Care after launch

Hosting, SSL, backups and small changes continue after launch. Ask what it costs per month and whether you can cancel.

6. One person who answers

Ask who your contact is and how quickly they reply.

We publish our prices, register domains in your name and offer month-to-month care plans.
