Quick answer: Sign in with a Google account, add your business name, category and contact details, verify the profile using the method Google offers you, then complete every section with hours, services, photos and a link to your website.
Before you start
- Use a Google account you will keep, ideally linked to your business email, not a staff member's personal account.
- Decide your exact business name as customers know it. Don't add keywords or locations to the name; Google's rules don't allow it.
Create the profile
- Go to Google Business Profile and add your business.
- Choose the most specific primary category, for example "Massage spa" rather than "Spa".
- Add your address if customers visit you. If you go to customers instead, choose to hide your address and add up to 20 service areas.
- Add your phone number and website.
Verify it
Verification proves you run the business. Google chooses the methods available to you and they can't be changed. They may include:
- A phone call or SMS
- A video recording of your business, showing the location, equipment or signage and proof you manage it
- A live video call with Google support
- A postcard by post
Follow the instructions exactly. For video verification, film continuously and show the street, signage or branded vehicle, and something only the owner could access.
Complete every section
- Opening hours, including public holiday hours
- Services, with short descriptions and prices where possible
- A business description in plain language
- Photos: exterior, interior, team and real work
- Booking or quote links
Keep it alive
Reply to reviews, update hours, add photos and post updates now and then. Make sure the details match your website exactly.
